My godchild says he sees two of me all the time. He repeats it enough that it's a concern, and he sees both of me enough that I have had to bring him into the fold. At first I thought it was just him crossing his eyes and I would joke that if he does it enough they'll get stuck that way, but his claim of seeing two of me persisted even when his eyes were uncrossed, that he knows the difference, it's not everything in his field of few which is doubled, just me. I showed him my radiation bay, a giant black door leading to a kind of mirror universe within. The darkened door is calibrated to Dorno radiation because it was invented by Dorno and I inherited it from my genius inventor grandfather when he passed. I explained that I've been using this strange device since I was nearly his age (5) and that's why there are two of me he can see, because the image of me in the mirror gets burned onto my body when I turn it on. Every second in these rays is comparable to a minute in the sun. I reckoned it with how Peter Pan has to reattach his own shadow to his body when it runs away and he got it. What I haven't had the heart to explain is why he can see this when few others can. He was nearly killed by his mother in a car accident. She was drunk and high and just being her usual trashy self. His sister (6) was in the same wreck but she was in front and somehow sustained almost no injury, so she can't see both of me, but he can because it was a near death experience for him. I was born into a full death experience, strangulated in the birth canal for 5 minutes and ineffably revived. This stimulates the sigma receptors which fundamentally changes the way your mind processes the visual field. We can effectively see more of what is hidden in plain sight. I can see standing waves and it would appear he can too. Areas effected by standing waves will seem to oscillate in place. What is strange is that I can't see this doubling visual distortion of myself in a mirror, but that has led me to a breakthrough as well. The darkened door is what releases the standing wave, turning it into a pressure wave. It's how I set my shadow free.

But there's a certain Machiavellian logic to all of this, if you could somehow trick the veritable king of all demons into serving your holy agenda you could effectively neutralize the threat of evil. That is, if you believe evil is something inhuman, something supernaturally applied to people rather than their own nefarious human natures playing out. We'll just go ahead and say the Order of the Garter is right, I am Alu Carter or "Alucard", we are the real Hellsing Institute, I am the real Hellboy, and just these two fictions alone based on our operations are eternal cash cows to exploit, meanwhile there are dozens of others. Did evil disappear over the past couple decades of decay? Even while the ancient Mesopotamian lord of the void was incarnated and effectively incarcerated under the rule of the church? Incarnated into a descendent of at least two world infamous war criminals.
